Giuseppe Arcimboldo / SLJ / Week 3

 -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

Task Description:
Bonjuor everyone! My name is Deborah and for today's task we looked in to a well known artist that is known for creating his art by using fruit.  And his name is Giuseppe Arcimboldo and is an Italian artist that was born in Milan Italy. What we had to do was try and create our own peace of art inspired by his art peaces. This is my peace and all I did was use fruits like a banana to represent the mouth / smile as well as the mandarin to represent the ears and the pineapple as the face. And to top it off with the leaves or what ever you call it that's on the pineapple to represent the hair. I just added in some glasses just to add something a bit different. I hope you love the look and that you feel free to comment and tell me something about this blog post.

After learning about all we needed to know we were to create a UV Ray Indicator our self. This is mine. How mine works is my one has a circle of the UV levels and at the top is an arrow that is what is used to point at the UV level. By doing that you have to turn the circle in till it get's to the UV level it is currently. On the sides are just something that tells you what each color of numbers mean. As well as showing you the lowest level to the highest. Check it out!

Treasure Map Cods KS / SLJ - Week 2 / Kick Start

  -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

-- KICK START --

Task Description:
Here We are. Sorry for the long wait just for this blog post. I have been pretty busy but I've got this activity ready for you to check out. Today we got to learn how to encrypt and decrypt this type of coding. You get a hang of it super fast which is why I found this task easy. This coding is called pigpen Cipher
and surprisingly fun when you knew how it works because you can say anything using the code. The Step it up activity for this task will be coming soon so don't worry. This is my own coding we were asked to make and this is how it looks like. This is a part of the create task in the slide show. What I had to do was pick a beach I like and give a clue which you will be solving to figure it out.

How to solve this type of coding:
Before I explain how it works I'm going to give you a little hint and that is that the first letter is T. If you are wondering "How is it T" Well.. By looking at the huge X where the T is you can see that its little section makes a triangle pointing to the right. So what your doing is using the letter and looking at the graph where the letters  is. After that you look at the lines around the letter. For example: E, in the graph makes a square because the lines around it make a square. Because there are two graphs from A to R the second graph has to have a dot in the center so than it doesn't confuse the person solving it. The reason why is because the graph is the same but the letters in it is different. Just so you could understand more , E on the first graph makes a square. And on the second graph N has a square as well representing the letter. People will get confuse which is why you have to use the dot so they know N is the second graph. And all I said with the top graphs is the same with the bottom ones ( X ) . I hope you understand this well. I would have explained it on screencastify but my mic was not working.

WHAT IS THE CLUE AND BEACH TO MY CAVE ? Tell me in the comment section and I'll reply back telling you if you got it correct or not!!!

Treasure Map code SIU / SLJ / Step it up / Week 2

  -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

-- Step it Up --

I didn't really know if the beach was right but with the information i had the beach I found was the one I found. If you know what the beach could be just comment. At the end I had to pick one type of coding to show case and explain how it works and how you can work it out.

Rise Up / SLJ / Kick Start / Week 1

  -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

Task Description:
Welcome everyone! I've finally completed this task after many thoughts in my head about what I was going to do. I sadly could't complete the step it up part but that's okay. A task today that we were given was based upon a song a school called Mangere College created. They created a song called "We Will Rise". What we had to do was watch a bit of the video we were instructed to watch that would be that part we were going to change up into our own little lyrics. We were able to change it and base it on anything we wanted, as well as the background to match the song and lyrics. My schools motto is "Strive To Succeed" and is very important to my school so I decided to have the song based on it. Strive to Succeed mean that we strive in tell we accomplish something and is something I've learn't ever since I was little at Pt England School. When I say "Empowering our Kids" what I mean by that is we encourage the little ones to follow their dreams and to strive to succeed. When I say "We all play a special part" that mean each and individual student at my school has something special they are passionate about and they play a special part. And lastly when I say "Seek the path" that means, seek the right path where there will be many door for you. And that's all for today but I hope you liked it.

If you enjoyed this blog post Please leave a comment and I'll reply back!

What are You doing Today ? Part 2 / SLJ / Kick Start / Week 1

Kick Start

Step It Up

Task Description:
I'm back with a part 2 on "What Are You Doing Today ?" task. This is the Kick Start task and what we had to do was similar to the first one but we just had to change it up a bit. On The last slide of the kick start slide deck I added in some extra words so check it out. For our step it up task we had to use the screencastify video recorder to record our self saying the sentences that was on the slide deck and here it is. I call it more of a Maori Session together with me then a video it's self. So If your interested in learning a bit of te reo Maori with me then I recommend you do.

If you know at least a bit of Te Reo or just word, share it with me in the comments section . I'll reply back if you do !

Optical Illusion / Summer Learning Journey / Week 1

 -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

Task Description:
Sorry for the delay but here it is. The last for the day and this is was an activity that involved a pencil, paper and ruler. But we were given a choice to either do it on paper or our chrome book but I decided to do it on a peace of paper. What we had to do was create an Optical Illusion and this is what mine looks like. We got check out many different ones but I decided to do one they gave us and so here it is. When I was recreating it on paper I had to restart because the illusion was tricking me making me confused which was properly the worst bit but overall it was great and I love the finish product. For those who aren't sure what an Optical illusion is something that consist geometric shapes and patterns, and are usually in black and white. But from my point of view an Optical Illusion is something 2d that tricks you lintel looking 3d or make you think other things. Check it out!

Have you've ever seen a Optical Illusion before this ? Feel free to tell me in the comments section and I'll reply back !

Have you ever learn't or seen and Maori motifs ? Feel free to tell me in the comments section and I'll reply back !

Te Reo Maori - What are you doing today? / Summer Learning Journey / Week 1

 -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

Task Description:
Hey everyone! Today we are starting off the day with some te reo Maori. I love the Maori culture which is why this was a very exciting activity to me. What I had to do was listen to recordings and organize the missing words into the sentence in order for it to make sense. What I loved about this activity is that not only were we just organizing words into sentences but we were learning how to say simple sentences in Maori like "What did you do today?" and "I am going to.." in Maori. The pictures beside the word at the end of the presentation was very helpful because by looking at it I straight away knew what the word meant. Check it out to see if you can learn a bit as well.

Have you ever learn't te reo Maori Before ? Feel free to tell me in the comment section and I will reply !

Creating An Insect Using Things You Find Outside / Summer Learning Journey / Week 1

  -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

Task Description:
Today I finally got to craft something out of things you would find outside. In order to make this bug you need two leaves and one of them has to be cut in half. Next you will need some twigs for the Antennae and the legs. On the side you will be needing some tape and scissors. You first need to get your leave that has not been cut and stick everything on from the back which is really simple so I don't need to explain a whole lot. And that's how I put this bug all together. I was very proud of myself after it was all assembled and finished. It looked really good and was really fun.

Have you ever crafted something things you had lying around the house or outside ? Feel Free to tell me in the comment section and I'll Reply back !

HIGHLIGHT OF THE TERM / RAINBOWS END TRIP !

HIGHLIGHT OF THE TERM !

This week was pretty busy for me but also a blast. This week I had a lot going on from trips to important events I attended with a few of the year 7 and 8s. Monday and Tuesday were just a normal day for me just like most days. Wednesday was probably my highlight of this year because we finally got to go to Rainbows End which is a theme park in Auckland  New Zealand. Every year 7 goes to rainbow’s end as an end of the year special trip. We had two buses taking us there which we  got on after we were split into different little groups with an adult. I was in a group of six which was a pretty decent amount of people which made it easy for us to stick together.

On that day the year 8s were going to a college near our school to have an activity day where they get to experience how it is at college and to just do fun activities. The day started off with the sky cloudy and grey which gave us some hints that the day was not going to be smooth with this weather. Once we got to Rainbows end we got out of the bus and made our way to the entrance where we met up with other schools and sat down in lines. Each student was given a band before heading in through the ticket booth. My school and the other schools lined up again on the other side of the entrance where we and went together with our group.

Rainbow's End Theme Park | Activity in Auckland, New Zealand

The first ride we went on was one called the Invader which was my favorite ride at Rainbow’s end but as we got on we waited for a full 20 second’s and were asked to come off the ride due to the rainy weather. I was a bit devastated that I wasn’t able to go on my favorite ride but I got to go on my other rides. Throughout the day we went on all the different rides at the theme park and also got to go on them multiple times. Me and my friends that were in my group went on a water ride called the log flume that I really enjoyed as well as the roller coaster and bumper cars. After we got to go on as many rides we had a little lunch break together as a group. After our lunch break we went on from there to try some more rides and the ones we enjoyed. The day went on so fast that it felt like not long ago we got there but it was time to go back to school. I had a bunch of fun going on the rides with my friends and gathered some great memories to remember.

Women's World Cup Draw 2021 !

Rugby World Cup 2021 Draw to be confirmed in Auckland | Rugby World Cup 2021

Recently my schools girls rugby 7's team had the pleasure of being invited to a special event held in the morning on Friday the 20th, last week. This event was the Women's 2021 World Cup draw. The women's World Cup is held every four years and next year is the year the women's world cups is going to be held by New Zealand for the first time. This was a draw for each team from different country's that were competing. This was to see which team was in which pool and what and exciting news we found out about New Zealand and Australia being in the same pool which is going to be an interesting game. We had a great time seeing some of the players in the black ferns which is New Zealand's Women's rugby team. On each seat had a little rugby ball and I was so lucky to get it signed by Fiao'o Fa'amausili in the black ferns and also from Sonny bill Williams. We also got the chance to be in the same room as New Zealand's Prime Minister , Jacinda Ardern. What a great day it was for me and the girls to experience. If you were to interview the girls and me and ask them how it went I'm 100% sure they would reply with great feed back from that event. Thanks to Mrs Va'afusuaga our Sports leader and the organizers for the women's world cup for giving us this opportunity. I had a great time which is why I wanted to share how it went and how much I enjoyed it.

Walt: Use BEDMAS To Solve Maths Problems

Task Description: Kia ora and welcome to week 7! This week's math is based on something called BEDMAS. For those who aren't quite sure what BEDMAS stands for I will be explaining it to you now. B stands for brackets, E stands for exponents, D stands for Division, M stands for multiplication, A stands for Addition and S stands for subtraction. When solving one of these questions we are using B.E.D.M.A.S to check of these things in the question in order to solve the problem. For example: 2³– 3 × (8 – 6) = ? we are solving ( 8 - 6 =) because Brackets standing for B in BEDMAS comes before the other ones if that makes sense. Check this out , I also have the process of working the question out so you will know how I worked it out. Check it out!

Lately there has been a game against Our New Zealand team "All Blacks". Title

How to be a Good Son/Daughter

Introduction

Are you a good son or daughter? Some kids aren’t sure. In order to be a good son or daughter you need to be sure to listen, help out and be thankful.

Information

1st idea

Listen

One thing parents hate is when their kid doesn’t listen to them, and that doesn’t just mean hearing. Listening is when you look at your parents when they talk and actually process what they’re saying. Then once you’ve processed what they’ve said, actually go and do it.

Information

2nd idea

Help Out

Parents love it when they’re kids are helpful around the house. Especially when you do it without being asked. Try little things, like washing the dishes or even just bringing in the groceries and it’ll make things a lot easier for your parents. Helping around truly has its advantages.

Information

3rd idea

Be Thankful

Your parents do a lot for you. They feed you, clothe you, put a roof over your heads. That’s just a tiny portion of how much love your parents put into you. So say thank you and show it through your actions. Maybe even give your parents a massage when they come home from work, or give them breakfast in bed in the morning. Your parents want to feel loved and appreciated too.

Conclusion

So now that you’ve read my story about “Role Models” are you strong, powerful and motivational enough to be a good role model? Everyone has the strength to be a role model. So use your strength and become a better role model then you already are!
