   -- SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY --

-- Kick Start & Step It up --

Task Description:
Task Description: Welcome you all! Sorry for the long wait for this blog post. I've been pretty busy lately as it was going on to Christmas but here I have completed the task from Wednesday. For this task we had to change up the lyrics to the song Jingle bells into our own words. Check out how it went. For each bit of the song I have an audio recording of how it's supposed to be said for the step it up task. Please don't mind my horrible singing  . I hope you check it out!

What is your favorite Christmas song ? Tell me in the comment section and I'll reply back !

  1. Kia ora Deborah,

My name is Shannon and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey.

What an amazing Christmas song! I’m so impressed by how you’ve kept the original flow and found so many amazing rhyming words to carry out the tune. It’s a great song and you should be super proud of yourself.

What inspired your lyrics? Did you have a great Christmas? Maybe you could add another verse with some of the Christmas traditions that you celebrate in the lyrics?

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to your video but I’d love to see it! Are you able to place it directly in your blog post so I can?

    Ka kite anō,
    Shannon (SLJ)

  2. Kia ora Shannon !

Thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate the fact that you enjoyed the song. It took me a while to come up with words to replace the original ones with but I managed to complete it. I felt so proud of myself after completing the task as well as reading your comment. What my lyrics inspired me was Christmas day and what me and my family did. I had a great Christmas day because me and family went to the beach. I sadly didn't make a video so I hope that's okay but thank you for commenting.

    1. Kia ora Deborah,

I really enjoyed your song, it's fantastic and shows all your hard work! You should be super proud of yourself!

I love beach Christmases! My family and I have them too, and when the sun goes down we often build a bonfire and roast some marshmallows! It's the best. What activities do you do at the beach?

That's ok that you didn't make a video! You've done a great job! If at a later time you would like to, you can get some extra points doing so though.

      Bye for now!

    2. Kia ora Shannon!

Thank you for replying back to my comment. I know right, Christmas at the beach with family is such a great time to have and remember. Building a bonfire with your family sounds really fun as well as roasting marshmallows. When my family goes to the beach we have a huge feed where everyone brings food to eat. We also play volleyball which gets very competitive once we've got into the game. We also play a game of touch which also get's super competitive against us kids but is also a blast. Swimming is the best when it is hot and sunny and also together with your cousins are so fun because we play touch and volleyball in the water. Thanks for asking though.

      Thank you Shannon !

      Deborah :)

    3. Hi Deborah,

Is your family super competitive too? Mine is! We get really invested in board games specifically, especially Monopoly!

You must be great at volleyball and touch! What sorts of food are the best for your beach days?

      Bye for now,
      Shannon (SLJ)

    4. Talofa lava Shannon!

Of course, my family is super competitive when it comes to anything especially sports but that's what makes it fun. I love playing volleyball and touch and I can tell you are as well with monopoly.
Beach days with my family are sometimes BBQ's, Pizza because it easy or sandwiches.

      Thank you for replying!

It’s Renee from the Summer Learning Journey Team here. I just wanted to leave you a message on this post to say thanks so much for sharing the recording of you singing your rendition of Jingle Bells with me! It was so awesome to hear you and it really took your lyrics and this blogpost to the next level. You should definitely continue to upload Screencastify recordings to your posts where possible. Which Summer Learning Journey activities have you enjoyed the most?

The lyrics of your song also made me smile as they remind me of so many kiwi Christmas memories! What is your favourite thing to do at Christmas time?

Ngā mihi nui and keep up the excellent mahi - I can’t wait to see your other blog posts over the summer.

    Renee (SLJ)
