Year 6 Camp at Kawau Island

Last week on November the 19th, it was finally our year six camp at Kawau Island. Most of the year 6’s went to camp but some of them stayed, our teachers and parents were there with us as well. Point England School has been going to this camp for eighteen years. During the journey to Camp Bentzon, it took about two hours by bus to the ferry and twenty to twenty-five minutes to Camp Bentzon Where we were staying for the rest of the week. Year six camp was so fun but also tiring at the same time. During the week of camp we did so much fun activities with our groups. Their were four groups called Kawau, Betzon, Katz, and Mansion. Every group was split into A and B. I was in Katz A. I’m not sure if you know this but camp lasted four and a half days sortov.  This camp ended on the 22nd of November in the afternoon on Friday.

Year six camp is only and just only for year sixes. Camp is when most of the year sixes get together and ready for the best camp they have ever been to. But I’ll probably call that their Highlight of Pt England. I mean that’s what the past students that came to Pt England said. Year six camp shows you how to embrace your fears and have with your friends, that’s what camp showed me. It is also for us to experience camp and trying new things. They might look scary but they are actually fun. It’s just what you think. At camp Bentzon there was a long building with trees surrounding it. That was the place where all of our cabins are. So this is how the lay out was. The girls had a separate staircase from the boys leading up to their cabins up stairs. My cabin was the last room. All the activities we did also included water activities not just dry activities. That was sailing, kayaking and raft building out at the beach.

The whole week at camp we did different activities even including wet activities. My highlight of camp was A wet activity in the water. It Was Kayaking with Mr Sommervile and Erin, the owner of camp Bentzon. Kayaking is my favorite thing to do in the water, It was even my favorite activity out of all of the activities we did. We kayaked a long way from camp Bentzon. We kayaked around the edge of Kawau Island and stopped at an area smooth enough for us to stop at. We walked around piles of rocks and ended at this cool site of builders building two big houses. It was interesting to watch them build for a while but the best part was that we got to have a little swim before we headed back to camp Bentzon. We’ll we were just having a little dip in the water we found something that looked like a rusty old pipe. Quickly we put the rusty old pipe back on the shore and away from the water. Just a moment after finding the pipe we walked back safely across the rocky shores and back to our kayaks. On our way back to camp Bentzon we played a little fun game all together including the teachers that were with us. The game went like this, The aim of the game was to tag as many people at the back of their kayak. Who ever got the most, wins the game. But there was a fun little twist, you were also allowed to splash each other using the paddles we use to control the kayak to get more of an advantage. After that fun little game I was soaking wet, especially my friends. My favorite part well we were kayaking was the game and how we raced in our kayaks.

My Other highlight of camp was the Concert. The concert was on the night before we were heading back home. When we got to the camp Bentzon this was one of the things I was looking forward to. All Camp practiced our Item with our entire group. The reason why the concert was one of my favorites because I got to see all the groups working hard and amazing Items that they have been working on together during camp. It shows you how much of a bond they were having and communication during it. But the concert is so fun and entertaining to watch. But that was my other highlight of camp.

After This fun Experience I had thought of all the stuff I had Achieved at camp. The only reason why I got to go to camp was the cause of my parents. My parents were the one that paid my fees for my camp, They are the ones I should be thanking. And also without the parents that came along with us we would have not had that much adults to take us to our activities and look after us.

After camp I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned that I can try things like the confident course. To be honest I recommend students in the future to try camp. Because you're experiencing the time without your screens and Trying new things in camp.  Camp is teaching you how to work with other people besides your friends and learning how to us the ability of communication. Camp can trick your brain with your emotions meaning your fears. It helps us conquer our fears and help us to just have a fun time and ignore all of those scary activities we are not sure of. But I bet you 100 present that camp is really fun especially kawau Island for me.  Also camp can build up students confidence just by the activities.  But anyways that was my camp, If you are a student in any school reading I hope you read this and find camp really fun.

The Trailblazers: Pt England

   The Trailblazers: Pt England
Last week on Wednesday, The presenters from Sky Sports news came to Pt England school. Before they came to our school the netball girls and boys that have played netball this year was told they were able to be in the clip of them playing netball, versing each other in a game by year groups. The clips was Mostly based on getting Pt England School out their and what the school and Mrs Va'afusuaga has been doing to get every single person playing sports and giving them opportunities to play their favorite sports. The first part of the clip showed all of us playing netball. It was just the year 5s and year 6s playing netball. In Between the games it showed some of the players from the teams interviewing and answering questions about Netball and the school. A member of the jammers Precious my friend was umpire games. She did really well. She had an interview about what she did to be an umpire at the netball courts that we play all of our games, versing different schools. Whenever we play games she has always umpire and that's what she is good at doing. This Clip was also to show everyone that Mrs Va'afusuaga gives us a chance to play sports even if it has to do with money. So that makes it really easy for us to pay weekly. And that was the time Sky Sports News came to our school.
