Delicious Division

We are learning to solve division equations using our knowledge of multiplication.

Multiplication practice:

56 ➗ 8 = 7            72 ➗ 9 = 8                44 ➗ 11 = 4

45 ➗ 9 = 5            64 ➗ 8 = 8               56 ➗ 7 = 8

35 ➗ 5 = 7            144 ➗ 12 = 12             27 ➗ 3 = 9

Justus has 75 chocolates. He would like to share them between 5 friends. How many chocolates will they get each?

75 ÷ 5 = ?  / 5 x 10 = 50 / 50 + 25 = 75 / 75 ÷ 5 = 15 /

 Answer: Each person gets 15

Tamati has 48 fidget spinners to share between 12 friends. How many will they receive each?

 12 times tables  /  12 x _= 48  / 12 x 2 = 24  / 24 x 2 = 48  / So 12 x 4 = 48  /

 Answer: 4 Each

Cooking club has made 140 cookies that will be shared between 7 students. How many cookies will each student receive?

140 ÷ 7 = ? /   7 x 20 = 140  /  140 - 120 = 20  / 

 Answer: 20 Each

Amelia has made 144 mini pineapple pies. She is sharing them between 12 friends. How many pies will each friend receive? 

12 Times Tables  /  12 x _ = 144  /  12 x 10 = 120  / 12 x 11 = 132  / 12 x 12 = 144  / 

Answer: 12 per person

Mrs Vaafusuaga has ordered 45 tennis balls. They are in cans of 3 balls. How many cans should there be?

45 ÷ 3 = ?  /  3 x table  /  3 x 10 = 30  /  3 x 12 = 36  / 3 x 13 = 39  / 3 x 14 = 42  / 3 x 15 = 45 

Answer: 15 cans

Atareita has 117 lollies. She would like to make 9 lolly leis. How many lollies can you use to make each lei?

117 ÷ 9 = ?  / 9 x 10 = 90  / 9 x 11 = 99  / 9 x 12 = 108  / 108 + 9 = 117  / So 9 x 13 = 117  /

Answer: 13 lolly leis

Kia ora everyone! Today I've just completed delicious division two for our math task this week. For this task we did the same as the first one and what we had to do was just answer questions involving division. This a pretty simple and easy task to work on and complete. Check it out!
